 Ride
and Drive was formed in 1988 by Julia Horwood with the aim of providing
high quality bridlework and harness for the discerning rider or driver.
She was trained at Cordwainers College and was accepted into the
Society of Master Saddlers as a Qualified Harness Maker in 1997
following an assessment of her work. In 2005 the quality of her work
was assessed and she upgraded to a Master Harness Maker.
All leatherwork is produced on the premises and all harness is made to order. We only use selected hides of English leather and best quality furniture and fittings. She has a very broad knowledge of bits and bitting (lorinery) and works closely with a bit maker to provide a wide range of bit styles and mouthpieces specifically for driving. |
| In
1990, to enable potential customers to see the quality of our work, we
started taking a trade stand to driving shows. We were soon being asked
to supply driving accessories as well as our harness and since then we
have steadily built up the range of accessories that we keep in stock.
If you are unable to get along to our stand we are happy to supply most
items by mail or courier.
In 2000 we became distributors for Tedman synthetic harness and subsequently Zilco Europe. We can now offer the complete range of their popular products including the Zilco George Bowman harness and the Empathy contour collar. A large number of spare partsare kept in stock so if you purchase a harness from us and find you need, for instance, a longer girth lay or a bigger browband, we are happy to swap over individual parts so you get a proper fit. |
| We do actually use the products we sell and compete both in showing classes and Indoor Driving Trials. If you haven't been to one of these Indoor Events, which are held around the country over the winter months, then the video below should give you a good feel for the excitement and atmosphere. |
